Steps to Admission
1 Determine Eligibility
- A four-year U.S. bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
An equivalent degree as evaluated by the Office of Graduate Studies.
Note: International students should apply no later than 30 days prior to the start of the term.
- Graduate Credit for Undergraduate Students. Request approval for Graduate Credit.
2 Apply
- Complete the application for admission.
- If a student's native language is not English, verification of English proficiency is required.

If admitted to the University of Nebraska–Lincoln:
- Contact your advisor.
- Make relocation plans.
- Enroll in courses.
Funding
Graduate Funding is Available
Fellowships
Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis in recognition of a student's demonstrated scholarship, scholastic and creative promise, and/or financial need. There is no service or work requirement associated with fellowship awards. A student holding a fellowship or a traineeship must be a full-time student during the period of appointment.
Assistantships
A graduate assistantship provides financial support for a graduate student for a set period of time during which the student is expected to pursue activities towards the advanced degree.
International Students Welcome
International students comprise a significant portion of our applicants and our graduate student body. At the Fall 2023 census, international students representing 105 countries made up 23% of our total graduate enrollment.
