Pre-Arrival Checklist
- Claim your ID and set your password in TrueYou
- Activate your email account
- Sign into MyRed
- MyRed is where you'll manage your enrollment, bills, contact information, and more. You can access MyRed only after you have claimed your ID. (see above)
- Apply for your N card, which serves as your campus-wide student identification and access card. Distance students are not required to have an NCard.
- Connect with your department to inquire about your first semester courses
- Enroll in MyRed
Review your estimated Cost of Attendance and any student fees that will need to be covered.
If needed, Husker Hub offers payment plan options and can help answer billing questions.
- Sign into and bookmark Canvas
- Canvas is where your coursework is managed.
- Check out the Graduate Studies Onboarding course.
- Sign up for UNL Alert
- Add the University Police Department phone number into contacts (402-472-2222).
- File your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Form if you haven't already done so.
- Download the Nebraska App.
- This contains maps, your class schedule, events on or around campus, news, campus notifications and more. Go to the app store on your mobile device and search “Nebraska.”
- Review the Student Accounts Guide, which includes details about payment plans, bills and direct deposit. Set up your direct deposit before the first bill is due.
- Watch the UBT Housing Video to learn more about housing in Lincoln.
- Install Housr, an all‑in‑one off‑campus housing and student living platform that offers tools to help students search for housing, connect with roommates and property managers, and access local resources with offers of discount codes.

Post-Arrival Checklist
- Connect to the eduroam Wi-Fi
- Purchase a parking pass and/or register your bike
- Order your textbooks online through the Campus Store or through your MyRED account
- Meet with your advisor
- Transfer your prescriptions to the Health Center by calling and bringing your medicine containers with the labels attached
- Pick Up Your NCard:
- Bring a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license, passport, or military ID) to the NCard Office located in Room 124, Canfield Administration Building North on city campus. Note that you cannot obtain your NCard without proper identification.
- Pay your student bill in MyRED by b>September 12. If you won't be paying your bill yourself, add an authorized payor to your account.
- Check out Big Red Welcome events, including the Street Festival and the Graduate Student Resource Fair! The schedule is available in the Nebraska App
- If you are employed on campus, connect with your Department HR for employment-related matters including direct deposits and signing paperwork.
- If you are an international student or a graduate assistant, ensure you are covered with a health insurance plan
- Attend the Graduate Student Resource fairs to learn more about campus resources and services

- Register to vote in Nebraska
