Neu Fellowship

The Neu Fellowship is awarded to graduate students who: champion or support LGBTQA+ causes and/or rights, hold or have held membership in a recognized student organization (RSO) for LGBTQA+ students, have demonstrated involvement supporting the UNL Gender and Sexuality Center (or successor office), or focus their graduate research/teaching/practice with the LGBTQA+ community. 

 Fellowship Award

  • Awards are $4,000 paid in one installment (October or November)  

Student Eligibility and Nomination Process

  1. Letter of support (no more than 1 page) – must have one of the following   
    • Provide evidence of previous 2 years of support of a community organization that supports LGBTQAI+ people – letter can be from the organization or someone who can document your involvement.  
    • Provide evidence of previous 2 years of membership in LGBTQA+ student organization (RSO) – letter from RSO. May be from a prior institutions for first or second year students. 
    • Provide evidence of 2 years involvement with UNL Gender & Sexuality Center (or successor office)- letter from center leadership 
    • Provide evidence of sustained research/creative activity or teaching with LGBTQA+ community – letter from UNL faculty. 
  2. Personal statement - Student must provide a 1 page personal statement about their involvement based on the criteria. 
  3. Student must be currently enrolled in a graduate program at UNL. 

All students that meet the requirements are eligible to receive this award (online students also). This can be given to students that have an assistantship or students that do not have an assistantship. 

Applications are due October 1.
